Scratch is a simple block-based programming language that lets users intuitively design and create programs in a more “hands on” style than most other programming languages, but are just as powerful. Although the theory behind programming has remained mostly the same for the past few years, the ways in which we can program have evolved significantly and the dawn of the graphical programming editor is remarkable! With no typing required, people can build amazing games and animations simply by connecting a few blocks together and none of these types of programs are more popular than Scratch.

This camp is designed as a gentle introduction to the world of graphical programming and is ideal for children aged 7 to 9 years. Students will be introduced to Scratch and shown some examples of what the language can do. They will then get some practical experience with the language by making sprites move on the screen! Students will look at what a ‘block’ is, what one can do and what the different block categories (such as Sound and Operators) actually mean. Engaging projects will be introduced to walk students through all the steps needed to create their own entertaining animation. Scratch isn’t just for animations though, it’s a powerful tool for making fun games and students will look at what is needed to make a game, for example, characters and game-play logic, and put their skills into practice by creating their very own game!

Daytime camps are for 5 days, Monday to Friday (visit daily), and they combine an immersive learning environment and exciting leisure activities and are sure to ignite young imaginations.

Happy Children

My child couldn't wait to go back to camp every morning; he had so much fun and learnt so much. The tutor Chris was amazing and he kept the kids engaged througout. I would definitely recommend if your child is into computers.
