Your child will begin by understanding the principles of what makes a mobile game successful, taking into consideration user experience, file size, display area and more.
Through a series of mini game based exercises your child will learn how to use event based programming to animate, control and when and where to position their objects. Their code will also need to consider a broad range of events and their outcomes, for example what to do if an object collides with a wall or if a touch input is detected.
Your child will learn many other additional skills throughout this camp such as game logic, digital media creation, creative asset management, programming concepts, user interaction.
Once the above has been mastered they will design and build their own mobile game, export the finished game as a web app and install on a FunTech mobile device or onto their own mobile device (if compatible) as the final part of the childrens' app design summer camp.
Please note: Games run on Windows or Mac computers, Android or iOS devices. Installation of the ‘Cocoon Developer App’ is required to install the work on iOS devices. For android devices, either the ‘Cocoon Developer App’ must be installed, or the device must have developer mode enabled and allow applications from unknown sources to be installed. In addition to this, a USB data cable is also required to transfer the files to the device (both iOS and Android).
