Thoroughly enjoyed!

My son thoroughly enjoyed his week long half day Minecraft Mod Developer Part 1 virtual week and wants to book onto Part 2 during his next school holiday. Tutor was excellent. Giving the course 5 stars as all was very good indeed.

When I signed my daughter up for Minecraft Mod Developer 1, I was worried that 3.5 hours would be too long and she'd be bored and restless well before the end of the week. I couldn't have been more wrong! She was completely absorbed for every minute and by day 2 she was asking if she could do Part 2

When I signed my daughter up for Minecraft Mod Developer 1, I was worried that 3.5 hours would be too long and she'd be bored and restless well before the end of the week. I couldn't have been more wrong! She was completely absorbed for every minute and by day 2 she was asking if she could do Part 2. She's just completed that and she has loved every second :) It's been lovely hearing her chatting away whilst we're working and popping up in breaks to tell me what a brilliant time she's having. I'm amazed by what she's achieved and she's thrilled to bits with it all. She tells me the tutors have been lovely and really good at explaining how to do things and at helping them when they get stuck. She's thoroughly enjoyed the interaction with the small group of other children on the course. The administration team have also been super friendly and very helpful. It's been great for us to be able to get on with our work knowing our daughter's happy and without needing to take her somewhere and pick her up. Both parents and daughter would highly recommend these courses. Thank you FunTech for a great couple of weeks :)

good fun for a 8 year old Minecraft fan

First coding camp my son has done and he loved it. Going in he was very familiar with Minecraft and had used some basic mod apps on an ipad but never used a laptop before and never used MCreator.

I was slightly concerned he'd come back a computer zombie after an 8-hour day building mods, but he was energised, and his mind was on fire with ideas when he got home. Every time I came to collect him, the staff were hands-on, helping the children and were really personable. My son said it was one of his favourite bits about the camp, talking to the staff. He learnt a lot about Minecraft and made some friends. It's a strong recommendation from us.

Endless hours of fun

Our son is a huge Minecraft fan, but had never been intrigued to attend any camp until this one. He loved every second of it and is begging to take Part 2!

I thought 3.5hrs might be too long but if his attention did wander the tutor was great at pulling him back in. We had one incident where he got upset and wouldn’t talk to anyone. The tutor Christopher discreetly contacted head office who called me repeatedly until I answered. This was hugely appreciated and I felt the team really cared. I was working from home so was then able to go and get my child sorted. 200% recommend! We will be back for the advanced level camp soon.

We flew from Frankfurt to London to join the summer day camp! My husband found the fun tech camp on the internet, as we were looking for summer activities for our son. After reading the course introduction, its plan, and the previous reviews, we booked the day camp at Wimbledon King's college school. We stayed in London for 7 days. With the total price, we could have gone to a lux holiday somewhere else lying on the beach. But when we looked back, it was all worthwhile.

Our 7-year-old child has learned a lot about building mod development, switching him from the consumer to a little active developer. It was his first time that he had to use English in an English-speaking country. He has learned also to get along with all others in that environment, without the help of his parents.
The teachers and personnel were very friendly. They picked us up every morning outside at the entrance and walked with the children into the classroom. Because we are not from the UK, they talked to us in advance to see if everything was ok and talked to our son so he would not be upset on the first day. In the classroom, every child has their own desk and a laptop. It was summer, but the building was not so hot like outside. On each desk, there was a ventilator for each child to use.
The teachers are young . The children loved them and were not afraid to ask questions. On the last day, the parents would be allowed to enter in the last hours to see what children have done in the week. We were asked to bring a USB stick so we could download and transfer the bult mod at home. However, here it could have been better, if parents also got on -spot guide or practise on how to install that at home by themselves.
The children also had enough screen lock break and could play outside.
The learning place itself is very safe. No one can enter from outside. The toilettes are not so far away from the classroom. The camp environment is clean and beautiful.
The school location is easy to reach by bus 93 and walk 8 minutes. Alternatively, there are many free parking slots along side the main road or at side road. An Ice cream van was outside of the entrance every day in the late afternoon, just in time for the camp closing

Looking forward coming up

Juan had great time, enjoyed the activities and the atmonphere. He looks forward coming back on the first ocassion he may have. The team was engaged and focussed on the items that matter.

Great experience for kids interested in Minecraft

This was a very enjoyable course for my son, 7. He is interested in how things work and had a lot of fun with the other kids building mods. He loved the tutor, found him to be very helpful.

Everything about the FunTech holiday club was absolutely superb, from the Fasttrack registration that let me give the team a heads up about what accommodations would make the experience better for my son, through to the drop off and the set up. I have never seen him as happy.

Felix had a brilliant time on the Minecraft Mod course. He'd never done anything like this before and we were a bit worried that it would be too much for him or not engaging enough to keep him seated but he was up at the crack of dawn every morning raring to go.

The course was well structured, age appropriate, and when things got a bit confusing his tutor was quick to reassure and help. When he accidentally deleted everything he'd created his tutor went above and beyond to recover his work for him which was much appreciated.

Felix learnt a lot, gained new confidence in creating his own characters, blocks and objects in Minecraft and has been using all his screen time since making more.

Many thanks for a great couple of weeks.

Wonderful first camp experience

My son attended FunTech for the Minecraft Mod camp as his first sleep away camp experience. He adored it and can't wait to come back next year.

Everything was great

She is pretty familiar with playing Minecraft, yet this course helped her to to combine her creativity with new technical knowledge to create her own gaming characters, and some very cool building blocks. She wants to try coding next year - and her younger sister is desperate to join her. The venue was very conveniently located for us in the Barbican, the staff pleasant and knowledgeable. Competent, well-trained staff and very nice facility.
For the price I was expecting more: surprised that it wasn’t a full week (5 nights only); no swag (typically a camp will send you home with a t-shirt or water bottle—my son only got a silicone bracelet.
FunTech could have at least included a USB which would have been on-brand instead of have kids bring their own); and the communication wasn’t great—the email published in the brochure was outdated and I called the number and left a message, but no one answered or replied.
Overall it was a good week of coding for my son but operations could be improved, especially given the price tag.

George has had a really great time on his residential trip. He has felt really comfortable with all of the staff and his fellow moders.

I had forgotten to tell them one day that my son was going home with one of his friends on the course, and the camp leader called me to check it was ok as he'd heard from the boys this was happening, which I was really impressed with. My son absolutely loved the Minecraft- Modder course, he tells me he wants to go the camp every year until he's too old to go anymore! The location was fab for us, and being in an air conditioned room during the hot weather was a massive bonus! Only wish there was an option for a 4 day course, to fit around my working days.

My son really enjoyed the course and made some friends. He made his own text based adventure game and is pretty excited about it. Looking forward to the next course.
Only one minor concern was that he had some connection issues but this was also experienced by others on the course.

I thought he would be very tired, but each day he came home fizzing with energy and wanting to tell me about his achievements that day. The team sensibly supported the children to take plenty of breaks out of doors throughout the day, so there was no problem with the screen time involved. He really wants to do one again!

My son just completed his second year of camps with FunTech and he absolutely loves it. The platform is great, I particularly like how the tutor not only can present the course but also help out on my son's screen at the same time, its almost magic. We've tried other providers but they don't come anywhere near the quality of a FunTech course. Our son learnt loads and was proudly showing off his creations at the end of the session, mobs, epic weapons, weird creatures... doesn't mean a lot to me, but the smile on his face does and his confidence not only on the computer but in a group environment have improved immensely. This year he will also join his older brother on the term time offering which is just as fantastic, wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

The admin team has been great sorting out all questions and guiding me through the booking process. What's great is that you can use your childcare vouchers to pay for the classes. The teacher of the class was great and helped my daughter every time she needed it. She was the youngest in the class so she needed quite a bit of support but FunTech and the teacher were supportive and she managed to complete the class and be even more enthusiastic about Minecraft!
