Computing undergraduates required for coding & tech summer camps

Are you an upbeat, enthusiastic undergraduate with a can-do attitude and good communications skills? If so, we would love to hear from you about becoming a FunTech tutor at our summer holiday coding and tech camps for kids and teens.

You will receive excellent training, including teacher training and safeguarding of children (all excellent for your resumé), competitive pay, and, best of all, you will use an interactive curriculum to teach - so no preparation of content is required.

Virtual Tutors | Work from home

Contracts
From 15th July 2024 – 30th August 2024
Hours
Mornings:   Monday to Friday 08:40 to 12:40 (17.50 hrs./wk.)
Afternoons:   Monday to Friday 13:40 to 17:40 (17.50 hrs./wk.)
Full Day:   Monday to Friday 08:40 to 17:40 (35.00 hrs./wk.)

Virtual Tutor Profile

Computer Science undergraduates who are passionate about their field of study and adept at engaging with children in a virtual setting.

  1. Excellent Coding and Tech skills.
  2. Deliver FunTech’s proprietary curriculum to children aged 7 to 16 in small groups, typically consisting of between 3 to 6 students.
  3. Clear and concise explanation of technical concepts enabling children to understand and engage with them.
  4. Patience in dealing with different learning paces.
  5. Ability to recognise when a child has not fully understood a concept and adjust explanations to ensure full comprehension, meeting the needs of an individual child or the group as a whole.
  6. Empathetic approach to a child’s challenges and emotions creating a supportive and positive virtual learning environment.
  7. Build a child’s confidence for their achievements and efforts by providing positive reinforcement through encouragement and praise.
  8. Maintain a professional appearance and approach at all times.
  9. Offer positive and constructive feedback to parents regarding their child’s progress and achievements throughout the week.

Equipment required

To be a successful candidate you must have the following:-

  1. A quiet space to deliver lessons from
  2. High spec computer
  3. Laptop and an external monitor or a PC with two monitors
  4. High-quality webcam and microphone
  5. Stable internet connection (minimum: 30mbps upload and 15mbps download speeds)

Successful candidates will receive comprehensive training on teaching methods, our proprietary curriculum, and more.

Location Coordinator Profile

Candidates must be highly organised, positive, a problem solver, and above all passionate about providing an enriching experience for our campers.

  1. Coding and Tech skills
  2. Exceptional organisational abilities to oversee the smooth operation of camp activities at a designated location.
  3. Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with FunTech HQ, parents, venue contact and other stakeholders.
  4. Proven qualities to provide guidance, assistance, and support to the team at designated location.
  5. Excellent problem-solving capabilities to address any issues or challenges that arise during the camp sessions.
  6. Attention to detail to ensure that all logistical arrangements, including equipment setup, student registration and equipment pack-up are handled efficiently.
  7. Flexibility and adaptability to adjust plans as needed to accommodate any changes or unforeseen circumstances.
  8. Enthusiasm for creating a positive and engaging environment for both students and tutors.
  9. Provide individual targeted student support.

Successful candidates for the Location Coordinator position will receive a £100 engagement bonus and comprehensive training covering coordination requirements, teaching methods, our proprietary curriculum, first aid and more.

Pastoral Supervisor Profile

Our pastoral supervisors will be working and staying in our Tonbridge location for the duration of the camps.

Candidates must be organised, patient, understanding passionate to provide an enriching experience for our campers.

  1. Experienced working with children.
  2. Extremely organised to oversee the smooth operation of evening activities at the school and boarding house.
  3. Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with FunTech HQ, parents and venue contacts.
  4. Conflict resolution skills to de-escalate any unforeseen circumstances and events involving the students.
  5. An empathetic approach to a child’s challenges and concerns.
  6. Ability to remain calm under pressure and adaptability to adjust plans as required to accommodate any changes or unforeseen circumstances.
  7. Attention to detail to ensure that campers complete their daily routine activities.
  8. Enthusiasm to create a positive and engaging environment for the students.

Successful candidates for the Pastoral Supervisor role will receive accommodation, food and comprehensive training covering pastoral care requirements, special education needs, safeguarding of children, first aid and more.
