We\u2019ve recently been extolling the virtues of our Virtual Lab online learning platform. As a regular reader of our blog, or a parent of child on a FunTech course, you will already know how our system offers improved learning when compared to traditional software such as Zoom and Teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But how does our virtual learning platform compare when you pit it against a physical classroom environment?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s likely that most people would think a child in a classroom would learn better versus a child sat watching a screen for a virtual lesson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is almost certainly true when it comes delivering virtual lessons to children using one-way broadcast platforms like Zoom. The child can turn their camera and microphone off, or even be watching a YouTube video in another browser window whilst the tutor presents and teaches. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The teacher delivering the lesson really has no idea what the child is up to. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This isn\u2019t the case with Virtual Lab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In fact, the complete opposite is true.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With Virtual Lab, the FunTech tutor can concurrently view every child’s screen during the entire lesson. This means tutors can respond immediately if your child needs support, give them a nudge if their attention wanders, or set them a new task if they’ve finished ahead of others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It also means that kids in a FunTech class are more focussed, because they know that the tutor can see what\u2019s on their screen. No more skipping to YouTube! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There\u2019s also less distraction for kids who learn with FunTech\u2019s Virtual Lab when compared to a physical classroom environment. They aren\u2019t in a large class of children, where some kids might be misbehaving or trying to distract them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And before you ask, we have class sizes no bigger than six at any one time, with an average size of four.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s also a much more comfortable learning environment than a real classroom. Virtual learning lets kids participate in classes from the comfort of their own home. This can help reduce anxiety and stress often associated with traditional classroom learning environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then there\u2019s the improved accessibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Virtual learning provides access to education for children who may have physical or cognitive disabilities that make it difficult for them to attend traditional classroom learning environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But what exactly are the results of our unique approach to virtual learning?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Compelling, is the short answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We have found that our approach where Virtual Lab lets the tutor view all the kids\u2019 screens is far more powerful than face to face learning. Our internal end of term tests consistently shows better results than those of children in our physical classrooms at summer camps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not only that, but as all the work is on their computer, kids can carry on exploring, learning, and improving even after the lesson ends. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
