Coding has become more widespread and popular now than it ever has before! With a wide range of programming languages and entry points, it can often take a lot of research and thought to work out where to start. Our Java Coder Level 1 course has you covered! This course will introduce students to the Java programming language, a widely used programming language in the industry today. Due to its high level, its descriptive syntax, and the numerous devices on which Java programs can run, Java is at the front of the queue when it comes to popular programming languages. Students who take part in this course will get a head start into the programming industry, and will easily be able to port their knowledge to other programming languages, especially the syntactically similar C#.

The week starts off with an orientation on one of the many Java Independent Development Environments (IDEs), Eclipse, and then moves on to arguably one of the most important sections in a program's life-cycle - design. It is not only important learning how to make a program, but also to know why we make a program the way we do! After looking at the theoretical, we move on to cover all the important aspects of any program: data, variables, branching and iteration. Students will get lots of practice with each aspect, learning about the different techniques that can be used for each one, when they should be used and going through some examples of using them all together. By the end of the course, all students will be thoroughly practiced in the art of coding and will be able to think of and create their own Java projects with confidence!
